In the fall of the year 1969 a proposal was submitted to the principals and athletic directors of the Suburban Catholic Conference to start a wrestling conference. The proposal was submitted by then athletic director, Mr. Glen Hartwick and then coach Joseph Scordino of St. Francis High School in Wheaton. The proposal was seconded by then athletic director of Notre Dame High School, Mr. Fran Willet. The proposal passed. The starting conference schools were:
Carmel High School (Mundelein) Holy Cross High School (River Grove) Montini High School (Lombard) Notre Dame High School (Niles) St. Francis High School (Wheaton) St. Joseph High School (Westchester) St. Patrick High School (Chicago) St. Viator High School (Arlington Heights)
St. Francis De Sales was in the conference for two years in 1974 and 1975. In 1978 the S.C.C. split into the East and West Suburban Catholic Conferences. St. Francis of Wheaton and Montini went to the West and Marist entered the East. The seven-team conference was;
Carmel, Holy Cross, Marist, Notre Dame St. Joseph, St. Patrick, St. Viator
In 1982 Joliet Catholic entered and in 1990 Marian Catholic entered the East Suburban Catholic Conference to make a nine- team Conference. Holy Cross High School dropped out of the E.S.C.C. in the 2002-2003 school year.
